The First Call Service provides free practical and emotional support with post-hospital discharge or assisting people to remain independent in their own homes. This free, time-limited service is invaluable in assisting people to build their self-confidence and their ability to cope. The support could be companionship, practical tasks such as shopping, attending medical appointments, regular telephone support and signposting to other organisations for additional long term support.
All services are delivered by trained staff and volunteers. Referrals can be accepted by individuals, family members, friends and neighbours, adult social care, hospitals and other health care and voluntary sector professionals.
